Accessibility
BlockApp is built for iPhone. We aim to make blocking apps and websites usable with the accessibility features built into iOS. This page summarizes what the app supports today and how to turn on related settings on your device.
iPhone (iOS) only. Screen Time permission is required to block apps and websites.
Supported in BlockApp
| VoiceOver | Navigate lists, settings, schedules, and editors with spoken labels on buttons, switches, and rows. Complete common tasks using VoiceOver gestures. |

| Voice Control | Activate controls by voice. Labels are aligned with on-screen text where possible so “Show Names” can find buttons and switches. |
| Larger Text | Respects iOS Dynamic Type. Text can grow and wrap in lists and settings; time pickers and day chips scale at larger accessibility sizes. |
| Dark Interface | The app uses a dark interface by default across all screens and theme presets. |
| Differentiate Without Color Alone | Selection states use shapes and labels in addition to color — for example checkmarks on color swatches, switch positions, and filled day chips. |
| Sufficient Contrast | Primary text uses high-contrast light-on-dark colors in the default themes. |
| Reduced Motion | Decorative animations are skipped when iOS Reduce Motion is on. Standard navigation transitions still follow the system. |

Turn on accessibility features on iPhone
Most BlockApp accessibility support comes from iOS itself. Open Settings → Accessibility on your iPhone to enable:
- VoiceOver — Settings → Accessibility → VoiceOver
- Voice Control — Settings → Accessibility → Voice Control
- Larger Text — Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Larger Text
- Reduce Motion — Settings → Accessibility → Motion → Reduce Motion
- Increase Contrast — Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Increase Contrast
Known limitations
- Apple’s app picker (Family Activity Picker) and the system shield screen when you open a blocked app are controlled by iOS, not BlockApp.
- BlockApp does not include in-app video or audio content, so closed captions and audio descriptions do not apply.
- Alternate app icons and some visual themes are decorative; primary controls use text labels and standard switches.
